Shape Swarm is an independent project that started as a game design task for one of my university assignments. My friends and I decided to start developing the game in our free time as we had already completed all the project planning and Games Design Documentation (GDD) which you can download and look through here.
The game is based on the idea of swarm combat using the boids algorithm, where players summon shapes into a swarm which they can then manipulate indirectly using formations. I was tasked with the implementation of the swarm formation mechanics as well as producing the concept art seen in the GDD.
